Building & Design
I believe that our built environment is second only to our natural environment, and that the task of the architect is to guide owners and builders to a solution which will improve or sustain the world around us, in all its forms. I am not interested in the phenomenology of form for its own sake—form is of little use if it's out of context. The context–the site, the owners, the inhabitants, the land, the sky, the codes, the budget, the historical perspective, the zoning, the urban fabric, the zeitgeist—is the true designer, really. But the thoughtful architect synthesizes and clarifies each component of the building before committing labor, resources, and money.
My aim in architecture is to find just the right mix of all the factors that go into a building—to establish a terroir, a sense of place and inevitability and just-rightness.

Home Improvement
Renovating a home is a daunting endeavor for anyone, but especially first-time home renovators, and New York City has its own unique set of conundrums....the Building Department permit requirements, zoning board, historic preservation boards, the new energy code, contractor selection, and of course, its legendary co-op boards. Each milestone along the way can seem frustrating, but if you have someone to help you decipher the mysteries and anticipate the process, it starts to make sense.
LEED Analysis & Sustainability
Visualizations & Object Design
As a LEED-accredited professional, I tend to reflexively review any building design for energy use, its carbon-footprint, material resources and its overall health for both you, its inhabitants, and the planet. I will always look to maximize the environment on any job. I am available to incorporate sustainability and climate-change-related issues to your project, from LEED-certification to a simple cost analysis of a "green option" versus a "traditional one."
I can provide full design or production assistance for 3-D printing, model design, and bespoke objects.
